I’ll admit it.
I’m a bit of a kitchen snob.
I LOVE the fancy gadgets that you don’t necessarily need. I’m a realist in the kitchen, but that doesn’t mean I don’t drool over things in the store. My kitchen (read: Military Man’s kitchen) is stocked with the bare minimum. Budgets and recipes don’t always see eye to eye.
I may not have the recommended supplies for making certain recipes, but I’ve never let that stop me.
I consider myself the MacGuyver of the culinary circuit.
(Once, I used 2 spatulas to suspend a meat thermometer, cause momma don’t have no fancy-pants candy thermometer)
But back to the luxury items I don’t have…YET!
And today, one of my dreams became a reality.
After making French Toast, I realized my 88 cent turner from Walmart just wasn’t cutting it.
Heat resistant….not the same as heat proof.
As I said, sometimes you can cut corners. You don’t always need the name brand appliances nor the name brand tools.
But my 88 cent turner…well I’d rather spend $3.99 and have plastic free food. Some things are more important than saving money. Toxic free food is one of them.
Side Note: TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and Big Lots are all places I recommend checking out when looking for anything kitchen related! They usually have name brands for a fraction of the price.
So we found the turner (pictured above, on the left) and I couldn’t leave without doing a quick browse…cause you NEVER know!
Then I saw it.
Sitting there, all alone, desperate to come home to my kitchen*.
*Military Man’s kitchen*
I thought it was a mirage.
The All Clad Cast Aluminum Dutch Oven. It’s MINE! ALL MINE!
I spotted it on the shelf and started jumping up and down with joy. (Military Man is no longer surprised by these outbursts when we are in any aisle related to the kitchen)
25 bucks people! And Military Man picked up the tab for all of our kitchen supplies as a surprise anniversary gift.
So, naturally I came home and whipped up some Italian food for him. (Recipe to come later!)
Have a good day!
